The Year of the Love Rat

A rather suspicious looking cheetah

China are hoping to end the country’s rising culture of secret mistresses and second wives by making marriage records available on the Internet.

A booming economy has created an increasingly mobile society, with many men opting for second families.
Lovers in Beijing and Shanghai will be the first to play detective.

With the increasing trend of women seeking married men online, it doesn’t seem that the little fact that he wears a ring will sway many people’s minds.

If he’s going to cheat, he’s going to cheat. I’m pretty certain the ladies who Ashley Cole, ahem, “rendez vouzed” with knew he was married to Chezza.

Also, who wants to walk into a new relationship preying on the other person? Surely, if you get on and like them you will eventually build trust without the suspicion from the word go.

In my opinion, it’s just another way to control people. With the country already under a strict censorship, it’s a surprise it hasn’t happened sooner.

The country aim to have all Chinese couples marriage details online by 2015.

Seems fairly pointless. If you’re not the kind of person who wonders why you fiance isn’t ever around 4 nights of the week you’ll probably not get around to checking an online record.

I can’t fathom bigamists at all. If a husband is cheating then the mistress almost certainly knows and probably doesn’t care.

So delete your MySpace, Bebo, Twitter and Facebook before you start courting?!? 😉
